New COVID-19 Cases Continue Decline In Deerfield
There have 1,673 COVID-19 cases in Deerfield since the pandemic began according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
DEERFIELD, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Deerfield has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 1,673 people have contracted COVID-19 in Deerfield since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 27 cases since Patch's last report on Feb. 11. For further comparison, there was an increase of 47 cases between Feb. 4-11 and 25 cases between Jan. 29-Feb. 4.
The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 53,840 confirmed cases in Lake County. That's an increase of 541 cases since Feb. 11. For further comparison, there was an increase of 821 cases between Feb. 4-Feb. 11. In addition, there have been 908 deaths, marking an increase of 17 since Feb. 11. For further comparison, there was an increase of 23 deaths between Feb. 4-Feb. 11.
The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 98.1 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 40,157 people have been tested across Deerfield (zip codes 60015) as of Thursday. That marks an increase of 2,169 tests since Feb. 11. For further comparison, there was an increase of 1,831 tests between Feb. 4-11.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 29 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Deerfield since April 6. The latest death was on Feb. 10.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 29 deaths are: 80+ (18), 70-79 (5), 60-69 (3), 50-59 (1) and 40-49 (2).

As of Thursday, there have been 97 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Deerfield, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That number marks three cases since Feb. 11. For further comparison, there was an increase of one new case between Feb. 4-11.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,847 confirmed coronavirus cases and 485 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.

These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
