New Weekly Coronavirus Cases Continue To Rise In Deerfield, State

There have been 1,850 COVID-19 cases in Deerfield since the pandemic began according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

DEERFIELD, IL — Health officials in Illinois are continuing to see an uptick in coronavirus cases across the state. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Thursday 3,739 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 34 additional deaths.

In Deerfield, cases have been rising for the last month after a drastic drop in cases to start 2021. As of Thursday, there have been 1,850 confirmed coronavirus-related cases in Deerfield since the start of the pandemic, according to the IDPH. The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 57,506 confirmed cases and 953 deaths in Lake County.

The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 98.3 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,269,196 cases, including 21,457 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 97,741 specimens for a total of 20,916,192. As of Wednesday night, 1,798 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 351 patients were in the ICU and 151 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Illinois is 8,642,545. This number includes doses allocated for the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities, which effectively has ended. A total of 6,707,183 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 112,680 doses. Yesterday, a record 154,201 doses were reported administered in Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 65,983 people have been tested across Deerfield (zip codes 60015) as of Thursday.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 30 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Deerfield since April 6. The last death was on Feb. 20

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 30 deaths are: 80+ (18), 70-79 (6), 60-69 (3), 50-59 (1) and 40-49 (2).

As of Thursday, there have been 98 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Deerfield, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 4,069 confirmed coronavirus cases and 543 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.

These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
