Deerfield Election Results: Voters Weigh In On Several Boards

Six candidates were vying for four seats on the Deerfield Park District Board; eight candidates were trying to get seats on the D109 board.

DEERFIELD, IL — In addition to Village Board, Deerfield voters decided on a few other races Tuesday, including the Deerfield Park District Board of Commissioners and Deerfield School District 25.

Six candidates were vying for three seats on the Park District Board on Election Day. Challenger Debbie Serota was the top vote-getter with 1,308 votes (21.49 percent), according to the Lake County Clerk's Office. She will be joined by incumbent Rick Patinkin, the current president, who received 1,055 votes (17.33 percent) and fellow challenger Michael Brown (1,036 votes, 17.02 percent).

Incumbents Gil Antokal and Gregory Lapin came up short in their reelection bids as did challenger Joel Seeskin.

Polls officially closed at 7 p.m. Early voting and vote-by-mail ballots are included in the total. Provisional ballots and late arriving vote-by-mail ballots are not included, according to the Lake County Clerk's Office. All results are unofficial. There were nearly twice as many mail-in ballots cast this election compared to the 2019 consolidated election, Chief Deputy County Clerk Todd Govani in Lake County told Patch Tuesday.

DEERFIELD SCHOOL DISTRICT 109 BOARD OF EDUCATION

Eight candidates were vying for four seats on the Deerfield School District 109 Board of Education on Election Day.

Incumbent Sari Montgomery was the top vote-getter with 1,876 votes (18.21 percent). She will be joined on the board by fellow incumbent Andrew Morrison (1,724 votes, 16.73 percent) and winning challengers Kelly Jakymiw (1,855 votes, 18 percent) and Maureen G. Wener (1,800 votes, 17.47 percent). Jakymiw, Montgomery, Morrison and Wener were endorsed by the Deerfield Public School 109 Caucus.

Challengers Dana Blumberg, James D'Angelo, Valarie Hays and Jonathan Silver came up short Tuesday night.

Current trustees Kate Bittner and Scott Kluge did not run for reelection.


DEERFIELD PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD

Independents Seth J. Schriftman and Emily K. Wallace ran unopposed for six-year seats on the Deerfield Public Library Board. Schriftman is an incumbent and the current treasurer. Trustee Maureen Werner, who currently serves as secretary of the board, did not seek reelection. Instead, Werner ran and won a seat on the Deerfield School District 109 Board of Education.
