Portillo's Halts Plans to Open in Deerfield

Citing problems with the property, Portillo’s has said it no longer plans to build a restaurant at 700 Lake Cook Road, according to an article in the Deerfield Review.

The restaurant chain’s proposal was supposed to be on the Plan Commission’s agenda Thursday, but the company asked that the item be removed, the article says. In a letter to Mayor Harriet Rosenthal, the company explained it was not able or willing to move forward given the “challenges” that its intended parcel of land presented.
