Each week, according to the news release, high-priority populations will receive e-mail invitations for targeted Points of Dispensing, or PODS, so they do not compete with the general population after everyone over 16 becomes eligible. These PODs will focus on populations including senior living communities, regional restaurant workers, essential manufacturing, and other frontline workers in Lake County, especially in the southeast region.

The Village of Deerfield and DTC are working with regional partners to schedule future targeted PODs for other high-priority populations that live or work in Lake County, according to the news release.

The Village has partnered with the DBR Chamber of Commerce and the City of Highland Park to offer a COVID-19 vaccination POD for restaurant workers, including employees of full-service, counter-service, and carryout dining establishments. Restaurant workers were among those who became eligible for COVID-19 vaccination on Monday. It is estimated that this vaccination POD will serve nearly 1,000 individuals working in restaurants collectively within both communities.
All other public openings will be filled through those registered in AllVax. Registeration with AllVax is available at allvax.lakecohealth.org.

"The Park District is proud to be a partner in helping to provide vaccines to local and Lake County residents," Deerfield Park District Executive Director Jeff Nehila said in the news release.

The Patty Turner site is the result of a collaboration among the Village of Deerfield, the Deerfield Park District, DTC officials, and the Lake County Health Department to find a suitable vaccination partner and location within the Village.

"This truly was a group effort to pull off and I am excited to see the hard work of the Village and our partners come together to serve our region," Deerfield Mayor Harriet Rosenthal said.
