Residents Upset Over Deerfield Mosquito Spraying
Some Deerfield and Highland Park residents are upset by the lack of notice given before mosquito spraying was conducted, the Deerfield Review reports.

Some Deerfield citizens aren't happy about mosquito spraying that took place in the area Thursday evening, the Deerfield Review reports.
The South Lake Mosquito Abatement District scheduled the aerial operation for just after dusk on July 11, and notified communities impacted earlier this week, according to the newspaper. The recent rains have made the mosquito population climb “to levels that go beyond nuisance and threaten quality of life for our residents,” South Lake’s website reads.
Although South Lake’s website says the ingredient used to kill the mosquitoes is not harmful to pets, people, or other vegetation, environmental activists aren’t buying it. Emily Stone told the Review the spraying kills pollinators and disrupts the ecosystem.
