This week may not bring an end to the strain of the political season, so to help relieve angst you can involve yourself in local issues. As reported in a recent New York Times article, you can mitigate feelings between casting your vote and election results “through other productive political actions”.

Now is the perfect time to get involved. The Riverwoods Caucus Party Nominating Committee invites you to participate as they interview candidates for Mayor, 3 Trustees, and Village Clerk on Nov. 14 beginning at 8:30 a.m.

What happens after candidates are interviewed?

Following the public interviews, the NomCom will select candidates for each of the open positions during a closed meeting.

As the final step in the nominating process, Riverwoods registered voters are encouraged to meet the candidates, nominate alternate candidates, and vote to select the Caucus Party nominees for the April Riverwoods Municipal Election at the Caucus Town Meeting on Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions this will be a Zoom meeting.

Only residents submitting an affidavit confirming that they are a registered voter may attend and vote at the Dec.7 meeting. To obtain the required affidavit, download the form at http://bit.ly/RiverwoodsCaucus or email RiverwoodsNomCom@gmail.com.

You may return the completed affidavit by scanning it or taking a photo of it with your cell phone and emailing it to RiverwoodsNomCom@gmail.com

Snail mail it to: Riverwoods Caucus NomCom, 710 Bay Hill Court, Riverwoods, IL 60015.

Mailed affidavits must arrive on or before Dec. 4. Emailed affidavits must arrive by midnight on Dec. 6.

Once your affidavit is verified, you will receive a secure Zoom link to attend the Dec. 7 Caucus Town Meeting.
