Sharing Pantry at First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield

First Presbyterian Church has opened a "give what you can, take what you need" pantry to serve the Deerfield community.

The First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield has set up a mini-food pantry on the church grounds for our neighbors in need. Perhaps you have seen a mini-library in your neighborhood? Well, same idea with non-perishable food!

There's a door on the front of the box but no lock, so anyone can take what they need 24-7. There are no forms to fill out so anyone participating will have a sense of anonymity which you won't find at traditional community food pantries.

Church member, Christy Wiscomb, who organized the pantry opening said, "I have been watching the news and seen the impact the COVID-19 has made on the world, with loss of life, job loss, furloughs and the ever-present food lines, all over the country. I think that there are people from all communities looking for creative ways to feed their families, who may be struggling to make ends meet. We are hoping that all people will feel welcome to help themselves to the pantry items so generously donated. This pantry shelves are over flowing, please help yourselves."

If you would like to donate food or paper goods, items may be placed directly inside the pantry. It's a great time to stock the shelves out of that pandemic buying frenzy we all did months ago.

You can find the Sharing Pantry at the southeast entrance of the church located at 824 Waukegan Rd., Deerfield, IL. For more information, visit firstpresdf.org.
