Slight Increase in Coronavirus Cases This Week In Deerfield
There have been 1,706 COVID-19 cases in Deerfield since the pandemic began according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

DEERFIELD, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Deerfield has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 1,706 people have contracted COVID-19 in Deerfield since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 33 cases since Patch's last report on Feb. 18. For further comparison, there was an increase of 27 cases between Feb. 11-18 and 47 cases between Feb. 4-11.
The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 54,638 confirmed cases in Lake County. That's an increase of 798 cases since Feb. 18. For further comparison, there was an increase of 541 cases between Feb. 11-18. In addition, there have been 918 deaths, marking an increase of 10 since Feb. 18. For further comparison, there was an increase of 17 deaths between Feb. 11-18.
The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 98.1 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 41,963 people have been tested across Deerfield (zip codes 60015) as of Friday. That marks an increase of 1,806 tests since Feb. 18. For further comparison, there was an increase of 2,169 tests between Feb. 11-18.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 30 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Deerfield since April 6. The latest death was on Feb. 20.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 30 deaths are: 80+ (18), 70-79 (6), 60-69 (3), 50-59 (1) and 40-49 (2).
As of Friday, there have been 994 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,971 confirmed coronavirus cases and 512 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. That marks an increase of 124 cases and 27 deaths since our last report on Feb. 18. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.

These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
