The expressway shooting occurred on I-90 northbound near River Road in May, authorities said.

COOK COUNTY, IL — A 24-year-old Chicago man has been arrested for opening fire on Interstate 90 last month. Christopher Cruz was taken into custody Wednesday following an investigation by the Illinois State Police into the expressway shooting, which occurred at about 2:26 a.m. May 21 on northbound Interstate 90 at River Road, according to a news release from Illinois State Police.

A 45-year-old man driving in the area told police his vehicle was shot at multiple times. The man was not injured in the shooting, police said.

Illinois State Police investigators used video footage to help link Cruz to the shooting, according to the press release. A warrant was issued Wednesday for Cruz's arrest, and he was taken into custody without incident, police said.
