1 Dead, Several Missing After Boat Sinks In Chicago River: Police
Several reports said three people are still missing after a June 26 boat crash in the Chicago River.
DES PLAINES, IL — The Illinois State Police said a male body found floating in the area of 5700 W. 47th Street in the Chicago River Wednesday afternoon is believed to be one of several people killed in a boat crash earlier in the day. ISP said the body has been identified as Elmer Jimenez, 32, of East Chicago, Indiana. According to several reports, four people were on the boat, three of whom are still missing.
ISP said they were contacted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday by Forest View Police Department about the body and responded to the scene.
On Wednesday, the Chicago Police Department investigated the crash and search for other people who were on the boat and are still missing as of Thursday morning. Members of CPD Marine Unit, conservation police, and state police also took part in the investigation and search for the missing boaters in the area of Pulaski and the Sanitary and Ship Canal, CPD said.

ISP is leading the death investigation, according to a release from state police. The investigation is still ongoing as of Thursday morning.
