5th Cold-Related Death Reported In Cook County This Season

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, this also contributed to the Des Plaines' resident's death.

DES PLAINES, IL — The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said a 64-year-old man who was pronounced dead Friday morning in the 500 block of Florian Drive in Des Plaines is the county's fifth cold-related death of the season, NBC Chicago reported. According to the medical examiner's office, an autopsy determined the Des Plaines man's accidental death was due to exposure to the cold with cardiovascular disease as a contributing factor, the news report said.

Four other people have died in Cook County in recent weeks due to cold exposure, including a 56-year-old man who died Nov. 11 in Garfield Park due cardiovascular disease with cold exposure as a contributing factor, according to the medical examiner's office.
