$96 Million Budget for Des Plaines District 62

District officials expect revenues and expenditures to be about equal this year, the Journal & Topics reports.

The budget for Des Plaines Elementary School District 62 is expected to be on par with revenues for this fiscal year, the Journal & Topics reports.

The district is expected to spend $96,027,451 in the 2013-2014 fiscal year, and bring in $90,469,217 in revenues. On paper, this means a $5.5 million deficit, but school officials aren’t concerned, the newspaper reports. Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Nelson Gray said the district “understates” revenues and over projects how much they will spend in a given year, typically cutting the gap between revenues and expenses.
