Audition for Oakton’s production of Anne Frank Sept. 16-17

Actors are needed to bring a world classic of personal discovery and a powerful reminder of the horrors fascism and war to the stage. Open call auditions for Oakton Community College’s production of “The Diary of Anne Frank” are scheduled 6-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 and Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the college’s Footlik Theater, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.

The director is seeking roles for: two teenage females, one teenage male, two females approximately 30-50, one female approximately 20-30 and four males approximately 40-50. Actors are required to prepare a contemporary monologue (less than two minutes in length) and read from the script. Monologues need not be memorized.

During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, Frank went into hiding with her family in the upper rooms of the annex of her father’s office building in Amsterdam. For two years, Frank remained hidden until she was sent to a Nazi concentration camp. After worldwide success in print, her diary was dramatized in 1956. This two-act play brings Frank’s indestructibility nobility of spirit back to life on the stage.
