Bolingbrook Mayor Basta hosted Iftar dinner honor of the Muslim
Mayor Bolingbrook, Mary Alexander-Basta organized an Iftar Dinner program in honor of the Muslim community to promote & strengthen harmony
Muslims across the world, including Chicago and other major cities in the USA observing one of their biggest religious months.
The Muslim Religious month is called Ramadan. This year’s Muslim holy month of Ramadan started on Monday, April 12, 2021 and ends in the evening of Tuesday May 11, 2021.
In the holy month of Ramadan, the Mayor of Bolingbrook, Mary Alexander-Basta, organized a special Iftar Dinner program in honor of the Muslim community to promote and strengthen harmony between different communities.

Bolingbrook Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta in keeping with the tradition of former Mayor Roger C. Claar, who started the tradition a couple decades ago, hosted an Iftar dinner in honor of Muslims at Bolingbrook Golf Club on Thursday evening, May 6, 2021.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Mary thanked all the participants and said that they have honored and welcomed them by attending the Iftar dinner for which they are grateful.

The program aims to ensure the implementation of an agenda to strengthen peace and harmony, tolerance and respect and equality among all sections of civil society.
A variety of Iftar and dinner arrangements were made to the delight of the participants.
The event participants included nearly 75 people, representatives of public organizations, members of Bolingbrook board, as well as believers of different nationalities. Due to Pandemic they keep the attendance limited.
The event was attended by eminent personalities from various walks of life, of the community along with their families. Notable participants include Atlas Chaudhry, Aziz Vayani, Rana Zaman Saeed, Akhtar Masood Chik Syed, Nawaz Iqbal, Rizwan Asghar, Dr. Muhammad Nadeem Longi, Hamid Bhatti, Asif Syed and Pakistan News Bureau Chief Rana Javed and many others.
The Chief of Police and the Chief of Fire and other officials also attended the Iftar dinner and expressed solidarity with the Muslim and Pakistani community and best wishes for Ramadan.
At the end, a special dinner was given in honor of the participants. Mr. Talat Rashid, who is very active in the community and working as a Bolingbrook Police Commissioner, thanked everyone for attending the dinner.
