Des Plaines Woman Dies Two Days After Being Hit By SUV
The 60-year-old woman went to cross the roadway just north of Golf Road around 9 p.m. Saturday, when she was hit by a Mercedes SUV.
NILES, IL — A 60-year-old Des Plaines woman died Monday, two days after she was hit by an SUV while walking on Greenwood Golf Road, the Niles Police Department reported. Police said Lisa M. Bauer, of the 8600 block of Golf Road, went to cross the roadway just north of Golf Road around 9 p.m. Saturday, when she was hit by a Mercedes SUV headed southbound on Greenwood Avenue, preparing to enter the left turn lane on Golf Road.
Niles police said officers responded at 9:10 p.m. to a report of a motor vehicle that had struck a pedestrian on Greenwood near Golf Road. Police said the driver of the Mercedes, described as a 44-year old-female from Niles, stated the pedestrian “came out of nowhere” and was hit.
Police said the Niles Fire Department arrived at the scene and took Bauer to Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition, where a doctor pronounced her deceased at 1:12 a.m. Monday.

According to police, alcohol or impairment doesn't appear to be a factor involving the
driver, and she's cooperating in the investigation.
Police said the investigation continues with the assistance of the Major Crash Assistance Team (M.C.A.T.).
