Maine Town officials sworn in with New leadership

Elected officials took the oath of office at the Maine Township Town Hall by Van Tine, Rena Marie - Circuit Court of Cook County

It was historically an evening in the Maine Township on Monday, May 17th, 2021. New leadership were elected in Maine Township Supervisor, Assessor and Highway Commissioner for the Township respectively.

All Recently Elected officials took the oath of office at the Maine Township Town Hall by Van Tine, Rena Marie - Circuit Court of Cook County alongside the families.

New leadership was sworn into office and received congratulations from Many members of the Chicagoland Community. Elected those sworn were Karan Dimond as a Supervisor, Susan Moylan Key as an Assessor, Ed Beauvais as a Highway Commissioner, Asif Malik, Kelly Maron Horvath Trustee, Jim Maher Trustee was elected in April 2021 for a four-year term.

Asif Malik, Member of Pakistani Community. He works Traffic Manager for the Cook County Circuit Court. He is aware of the historical implications of his accomplishment of being the first Asian American voted for Maine Township trustee.

Born in Pakistan and immigrated to the United States in 2001. He made Des Plaines and Maine Township his home in 2006 and became a US citizen in 2011.

During an interview with Asif Malik. He said, “Thank you for giving me this opportunity to become a trustee. I will bring my experience and the best skills to the Township board including finance, budgeting, planning and community engagement.”

He further said, “Maine Township should be reflective and representative of the communities they serve, especially under-looked communities like the unincorporated areas of the Township. I will Implement the most logical Improvement Project to the Township Board. I will work hard to lower our tax burden, while improving our quality of service to residents.”

“As a trustee I will work to build strong partnerships with all the Township officials and community stakeholders”. Malik continued.

The swearing in was also attended by Malik’s family and friends as well as town residents and town community members from several others.
