Man Charged With Attempted Murder in Double Shooting

A 22-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were shot earlier this month in unincorporated Des Plaines.

SKOKIE, IL — A 20-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting that injured two people in Maine Township, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. Ayande Andrews, 20, of Gurnee, was arrested in Atlanta and charged Tuesday with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of home invasion in connection with the June 4 shooting.

Investigators determined Andrews was responsible to the shooting, which occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on June 4 in the 10000 block of Linda Lane in unincorporated Des Plaines, according to a news release.

Police were dispatched to a report of shots fired and found a 22-year-old woman and a 23- year-old man with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Both victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

During the course of the their investigation, detectives learned that on the night of June 4, Ayande allegedly shot the victims during an argument inside their home and then fled the scene, police said.

An arrest warrant for Andrews was issued on June 6. On June 10, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Atlanta task force arrested Andrews after locating him in Atlanta. Andrews waived extradition on June 11.

Andrews returned to Cook County on June 18 and was charged. He was denied bond during his court appearance Wednesday at the Skokie Courthouse.
