Oakton, congressional leaders partner for hiring event May 31
Oakton is hosting a free hiring event featuring more than 60 employers with immediate openings Thursday, May 31, at the Des Plaines campus.
Oakton Community College is joining with U.S. Representatives Brad Schneider and Jan Schakowsky, National Able Network and the Illinois Department of Employment Security for a hiring event 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at the college’s TenHoeve Center, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
The free event, which is open to the public, will feature more than 60 local and national employers with immediate openings. Early entry for veterans begins at 9:30 a.m. The following businesses are scheduled to participate:

“In Congress, one of my top priorities remains creating jobs and promoting a growing economy that raises the standard of living for all Americans,” said Schneider, who will be at the event from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. “I’m very excited to build on that work back home for the second year at Oakton Community College through this district-wide hiring event to help connect constituents seeking jobs with great local employers who are hiring.”
“Fighting for good jobs with good wages and benefits is my top priority in Congress,” Schakowsky said. “I look forward to seeing this event connect job seekers to employers and in turn improve the well-being of families, help grow our economy and strengthen our community. I encourage constituents throughout the northwest side of Chicago and its suburbs to attend this hiring event featuring almost one hundred employers with jobs representing a broad array of issue areas and experience levels.”
Free workshops for attendees on networking, interview tips, and other important job search topics will be offered throughout the event. The workshop schedule is as follows:
