Age 83, of Plainfield, formerly of Downers Grove, Des Plaines, and Westmont, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Gardenia was born in Battle Creek, MI, the daughter of the late Thomas and Gladys (nee Langs) Plested. She retired from Hinsdale Hospital after 20 years of service. Gardenia was a former member of the Downers Grove, Bolingbrook, and Joliet Seventh Day Adventist Churches. She loved sewing, puzzles, and daily telephone calls with her family and friends. Gardenia was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survived by her two daughters, Cathy (Frantz) Backer of Long Island, NY and Nancy (Gary) Franger of Bolingbrook; three grandchildren, Nicole and Kyle Franger and Edward Backer; two brothers, Gilbert Plested of Muskegon, MI and Earl (the late JoAnne) Plested of Thayer, MO; nieces and nephews, Kim, Jo-Lyn, Jon, Carl, Cheli, and David.

Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Moser (1997); her parents and her sister, Beverly La Barge.

As it was Gardenia’s request, cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be held at Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Elmhurst, IL, at a later date. Arrangements under the care and coordination of Fred C. Dames Funeral Home.
