Rivers Casino Appeals $105.7 Million Property Assessment

Rivers Casino owners think the property value is $27.9 million less than Cook County's evaluation, the Journal & Topics reports.

If the assessed value holds true, Rivers Casino owner Midwest Gaming would owe $6.5 million in property taxes that largely go to the city of Des Plaines, Cook County and local schools, according to the newspaper. The casino feels the value of its property is only $77,820,000, far less than the county assessor’s estimation. If that number is upheld by the assessor’s office, taxes paid would drop significantly.
