Shrine Leaders and Des Plaines residents to discuss celebration

The celebration has attracted thousands in the previous years.

Alderman Don Smith of the 7th Ward and Rev. Esequiel Sanchez will meet with residents on Wednesday night to discuss the celebration at the Lady of Guadalupe shrine, according to the Daily Herald. Thousands of parishioners are expected to visited the shrine from 10 to 12 December.

The shrine to the Lady of Guadalupe is based on the Catholic belief that the Virgin Mary appeared Mexico in 1531.

The meeting will occur at the shrine, located at 1170 N. River Road, at 7 p.m. on November 30.

Alderman Smith has invited residents from neighborhoods around the shrine to the meeting, which will also be open to the public.
