We Just Had the Largest 2-Day November Snowfall in 120 Years
If you had to shovel all that snow out of your driveway, that probably doesn't sound so great right now.
Our Friday and Saturday snowfall ranks as the second largest November snowstorm on record for northern Illinois, according to the National Weather Service, second only to 12 inches dropped in 1895.
This is how our weekend snow stacks up to history, as measured at O’Hare Airport:
- Nov. 25-26, 1895, 12 inches
- Nov. 20-21, 2015, 11.2 inches
- Nov. 6-7, 1951, 9.3 inches
- Nov. 26-27, 1975, 8.6 inches
- Nov. 27-28, 1891, 6.0 inches
Saturday also gave us the third largest single-day November snowfall.

- Nov. 26, 1975, 7.5 inches
- Nov. 21, 2015, 7.0 inches
- Nov. 26, 1895, 7.0 inches
- Nov. 27, 1891, 5.8 inches
This November is now the fourth snowiest on record for Chicago, according to the NWS.
An arctic blast is driving temperatures down for Sunday, but gradually we’ll warm up during the week. Up to this point, November has been unseasonably warmer than average. Which means we ultimately could have one of the snowiest Novembers on record as well as one of the warmest.

- Sunday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 28. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
- Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 25. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
- Monday: Sunny, with a high near 36. Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
- Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
- Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38.
- Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 35.
