Downers Grove Makes List Of '100 Best Places To Live' In U.S.
Downers Grove came in just two spots ahead of Wheaton on Livability's list of 100 Best Places To Live.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove residents have some new bragging rights after the village was ranked one of the Best Places To Live in the U.S. by Livability. Downers Grove came in at #46 on the list, ranking two spots ahead of its nearby neighbor, Wheaton.
"Contrary to its name, Downers Grove is a happy and tight-knit community just 20 miles west of Chicago," Livability wrote in its description of the village. The list commended Downers Grove for its "business-friendly environment and strong economy," noting its proximity to I-355 and I-88.
The village also earned points for its "award-winning schools," forest preserves, and the shops and restaurants located downtown.

Livability ranked locales in several different categories, including civic, demographics, economy, education, health, housing, and infrastructure. Downers Grove scored especially high in the social-civic category, because its "residents tend to be highly involved in improving their community," Livability wrote.
