Baha'i Faith Buys Home Near Temple

The nearly 100-year-old brick house on Sheridan Road sold for $1.2 million.

A Sheridan Road home in Wilmette - not far from the Baha’i Temple - sold for $1.2 million to the national organization for the Baha’i faith.

The 2,863-square-foot “vintage American Foursquare-style house” is almost directly across the street from the landmark Baha’i House of Worship, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The sellers of the 1921-built brick house netted a $305,000 profit in less than two years of ownership.

“The plan at this point is to rent it out for residential use,” said Glen Fullmer, director of communication for Baha’i. “It’s part of a portfolio of properties that we have in the area, including the temple, the vacant lot and then the house at 121 Linden Ave., which is used as a guest house. So a potential use in the future (for the recently purchased home) is as a guest house. ... For now, it will be rented for residential use.”

Only a vacant lot separates the Temple from the home, which is located near Sheridan and Linden Avenue.
