Find the schedule for open fire hydrants at Evanston parks during the heat advisory Friday and Saturday.
EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston Fire Department announced it will open fire hydrants at local parks to help residents beat the heat as temperatures rise to extreme levels.
Firefighters will be on scene, and spray nozzles will be attached to hydrants for use by children and families, according to city staff.
If the firefighters are called away to deal with emergency calls, the hydrants will remain on for the scheduled period. When they are able to return they will collect materials and turn off the hydrants.
