Best Burger In Evanston: Readers Pick Edzo's
The downtown burger shop has been recognized as one of the region's best. Readers praised the ingredients, selection and service.

EVANSTON, IL — We asked Evanston Patch readers last week to share their recommendations for the best burger place in town, and the results are in.
One spot emerged as the top pick of more than 35 percent of the nearly 100 respondents to our unscientific survey.
Edzo's Burger Shop, 1571 Sherman Ave., was the clear favorite of Evanston Patch readers, who praised the shop's selection, freshness and service.

One reader described it as "the total package."
Another, whose go-to order includes a double cheeseburger with everything, old friends and a banana shake, said the "fresh meat, perfectly griddled, fresh toppings" as well as great fries and shake make it the undisputed best burger in Evanston.

"Great beef, not packed too tight," said another reader, "juicy, flavorful and perfectly cooked to a nice pink [interior with a] crusty exterior. And, those Nutella milkshakes ..."
"Really fresh, delicious burgers made in new interesting ways," raved a reader. "Also amazing service. I really love the crew."
Edzo's has earned numerous plaudits since owned Eddie Lakin opened up shop downtown in 2009.
In 2013, The Zagat Guide named Edzo's the No. 1 burger joint in Chicago, food website The Daily Meal ranked it No. 35 on nationwide list of the top burger joints in 2018 and last year it was named one of the 20 "most essential" burgers in Chicagoland by Eater Chicago.
The most popular go-to order at Edzo's among Evanston Patch readers was the "Spicy Sconnie," which features spicy ketchup, spicy mayo and spicy cheddar spread with jalapenos, grilled onions and lettuce on a 4-ounce beef patty.
