Someone stole a 2001 Mazda SUV with gold-tinted window and tow hitch from the 1700 block of Leland Avenue between 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, and 5:44 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, according to police.
Chicago Man Charged With Attempted Theft
Amro Nizam Abuhijleh, 22, of the 3700 block of North Kostner in Chicago, was arrested and charged with attempted theft at 9:19 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, in the 2300 block of Howard Street, according to police.
Car Burglar Breaks Window; Steals Stereo, Amps
Someone broke the window of a 2003 Chevrolet parked in the 1400 block of Washington Street between 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, and 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, according to police. The burglar stole a JVC stereo/DVD player and two Kenwood amps.
Vandal Flattens Tires, Breaks Mirror, Keys Door
Someone flattened all four tires, broke the mirror and keyed the door of a 2009 GMC parked in the 2200 block of Forestview Road between 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, and 7:31 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, according to police.
Thief Swipes Phone From Counter
A man stole an Apple cell phone from the counter of a department store in the 900 block of Church Street at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, police reported.
