2021 Evanston 4th Of July Holiday City Service Schedule

The City of Evanston announces service and facility schedules for the Independence Day holiday, Sunday, July 4, observed this year on Monday, July 5.

Refuse Collection
No collections will occur on Monday, July 5. All trash, yard waste and recycling collections will occur one day later than normal. Friday condo trash and recycling collections will occur Friday, July 9.

Facilities
All City community centers, recreation facilities, and Evanston Public Library locations will be closed on Sunday, July 4 and Monday, July 5. The Levy Senior Center, Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center and Chandler-Newberger Center will also be closed on Saturday, July 3.

311 Center
Evanston’s 311 Center will be open for regular hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Friday, July 2 and will be closed July 3 through July 5.

Beaches
Evanston beaches, including Lighthouse, Clark Street, Lee Street and South Boulevard, will be open for swimming on Sunday, July 4 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Greenwood Street Beach will open for the season on Thursday, July 1.

Parking
Parking meters/pay boxes and downtown parking garages will be free on July 4. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored. Regular parking enforcement will be in place on Monday, July 5; however, street cleaning operations will not occur.

Virtual Independence Day Celebration
Due to the amount of pre-planning needed and the prior uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, the Evanston Fourth of July Association voted in March to replaced its traditional 4th of July activities with an alternative virtual celebration. View a complete listing of Independence Day festivities.
