City Extends Vehicle Sticker Deadline to Dec. 31

Residents have until Dec. 31, 2013, to submit their wheel tax payment.

The following press release was submitted by the city of Evanston:

The deadline for 2014 Evanston “stickerless” wheel tax has been extended to December 31, 2013. Preprinted renewal notices with an online renewal ID and instructions were mailed to residents in late October, 2013. Residents are highly encouraged to submit the wheel tax payment either online or by mail as soon as possible.

City Code 10-8-1 requires all vehicles registered to an Evanston address to pay an annual wheel tax. Compliance will be checked using License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology, which stores the license plates of all vehicles registered to an Evanston address.

The cost for a regular passenger car wheel tax is $75. A penalty of 50% of the fee will be added to all applications received after December 31, 2013 (increasing the cost of the wheel tax to $113). For rates on other vehicle types, call 3-1-1 or visit www.cityofevanston.org/sticker.
