Curt's Cafe Named Finalist in $50,000 Competition
The Evanston cafe, which trains at-risk young men, hopes to open a location in Chicago.

Evanston’s Curt’s Café is a finalist for the Project Impact prize, which would provide $50,000 plus a year of management support.
The prize, sponsored by the organization A Better Chicago, will give the awards to three early-stage nonprofits that ware working to improve the lives of low-income Chicagoans. Curt’s Café is one of six finalists.
Founder Susan Trieschmann started Curt’s Café two years ago to provide job training and skills to teens and young men who have been involved in the juvenile justice system. It’s located at 2922 Central St..

Earlier this year, a successful online fundraising campaign raised money to open a Curt’s Café South, on Dempster, to help at-risk young women.
Trieschmann told the Daily Northwestern that she is looking at a space in Chicago to expand to, as well.
