Downed Power Lines Close Green Bay Road In Evanston

Traffic was blocked at Green Bay Road and Emerson Street Wednesday afternoon after a truck hit a utility pole.

EVANSTON, IL — Downed power lines shut down a block of Green Bay Road Wednesday afternoon. A truck struck a utility pole, sending live electrical wires across Green Bay Road just north of Emerson Street, authorities said.

There were no reports of any injuries, but police asked all pedestrians and motorist to avoid the area. ComEd was on the scene working to repair the damage shortly after 1 p.m., police said.
