One Evanston business owner is hoping the city will give businesses a liquor tax break because nearby Skokie and Chicago don’t impose a 6 percent tax on retail liquor sales, Evanston Now reported.
Wine Goddess owner Diana Hamann recently told Evanston’s Liquor Control Board that the tax is unfair but Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, the city’s liquor commissioner, said the city relies on the $2 million in revenue the liquor tax brings, Evanston Now reported.
