Evanston City Council Bans Working Drones
Evanston adopted a two-year ban on drones but made exceptions for toys and research, Evanston Now reported.

Evanston City Council voted 5-4 to adopt a two-year ban on the use of drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles, in the city but made exceptions for toys and research, Evanston Now reported.
It is unclear if the ban is enforceable since the measure was adopted as a resolution and not an ordinance and doesn’t include penalty provision, the newspaper reported. The resolution appears to ban any purchase of drones by the city’s police department and a variety of potential commercial uses from real estate videos to environmental monitoring, Evanston Now reported.
