Evanston Mobile Tap Water Station Has Saved 79K Plastic Water Bottles This Year

The station as been at 37 events so far this year.

The following is from the City of Evanston:

The City of Evanston is proud to announce that the Utilities Department’s Mobile Tap Water Station has been at 37 events sponsored by the City, Northwestern University and community organizations this year. So far, it has provided roughly 200 gallons per event, eliminating the use of about 79,000 12-ounce plastic water bottles and counting.

The tap water station is a fully equipped mobile water cart that includes drinking fountains and a spout to refill reusable water bottles, providing free tap water at community events. The City’s goals in using the station are to promote water conservation and eliminate the waste and high consumer cost associated with the use of bottled water. The station is supplied with fresh tap water from Evanston’s Water Treatment Plant and ice to keep it cool and refreshing during the hottest summer days. Additionally, the side display panels of the station promote easy water conservation tips and statistics on water use.
