Evanston Outdoor Dance Event Starts June 20

Evanston will host dance events on six Thursday nights throughout the summer, starting June 20 through August 1.

Love being outdoors, love dancing? Head to It’s Thursday, Let’s Dance, a free event that offers dance instruction from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., and live music starting 7 p.m. on six Thursday nights throughout the summer, according to DowntownEvanston.org.

The event takes place at 909 Davis St. Plaza, at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Church Street, and is accessible via CTA Purple Line or Metra to the Davis stop.

  • June 20: Afinca'o - Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and all rhythms Latin
  • June 27: Bopology - Chicago's favorite swing, jazz, Frank Sinatra and jump-blues band
  • July 11: The Shirley King Band - Sweet home Chicago blues and R&B
  • July 18: The Associates - The premiere Motown and variety band of the Midwest
  • July 25: Unity - Rhythmic and rolling beats of Reggae
  • August 1: The Flat Cats - Hot swing, jazz, contemporary classics and timeless standards

The event is sponsored by Downtown Evanston, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chef’s Station, North Shore University Health System, Northwestern University, Uncle Dan’s, Visiting Angels and Whole Foods Market.
