  • “I do not like the service. It is annoying. I came to the store alone and I would like to leave alone. If I was to ASK for the help it would be a different story,” Bob wrote on Patch.
  • “That is kind of stalking to me if I refused. They might lose business like jcpenney with new approach like that and drive customers away,” Yolanda Wray wrote on Facebook.
  • “I can not stand being badgered at places I shop. I expect courteous, competent service at the register and a clean store, that's it. I will stop going to Jewel if they impose this upon me ... Fortunately, the Jewel I shop at right now only asks. I'm fine with them having it available,” Billy wrote on Patch.
  • “Oh my gosh. I understand good service, but in this day and age, and especially in Evanston, this type of service is not necessary. I think we're all pretty capable of carrying and unloading our own groceries,” Susan Taylor Gescheidle wrote on Facebook.
  • “I like the idea…well except for the fact that it’s mandatory….I think it will help the employees of the stores get to know their customers better although I think ALL employees should get into the pile and do it not just the baggers,” John C Thomson wrote on Patch.
  • “They do this at Grand foods in Winnetka and it is great,” Noah Seidenberg wrote on Facebook.
