Evanston Selects New Electricity Supplier
Verde Energy USA will be providing power to Evanston residents starting in August.

The City of Evanston has chosen Verde Energy USA to provide “100 percent green” power to the city’s nearly 30,000 households starting in August, Crain’s Chicago Business reported.
Verde was the lowest bidder out of three qualified bidder and will be offering an electricity price of 5.192 cents per kilowatt-hour for one year, about 8 percent higher than the 4.797 cents per kilowatt-hour the city negotiated with Constellation last year but 6 percent lower than the 5.5 cents per kilowatt-hour Commonwealth Edison is expected to start offering in June, Crain’s Chicago Business reported.
