NILES, IL — An Evanston woman was charged with child endangerment after leaving her 2-year-old child in a hot car Tuesday in Niles, police said. Around 3:49 p.m. a supervisor at the Fresh Farms Grocery Store, 5740 W. Touhy Ave., reported seeing a child locked inside a gray Infiniti in the parking lot.
Asel Ubayeva, 24, of the 1000 block of Emerson Street, Evanston, was taken into custody and charged with endangering the life or health of a child, a class A misdemeanor, according Niles police.
The store employee who contacted authorities, a 23-year-old Chicago man, told police he had noticed the car's engine was off and the toddler inside was "sweating profusely," according to Cmdr. Robert Tornabene.

The staffer was able to reach through a partially open window, unlock the car door and remove the child. Police said he took the child inside the grocery store and provided some water to the boy.
The Niles Fire Department arrived at the scene to evaluate the child's condition, later releasing him to his father, according to Tornabene. The officer on scene also filed a report with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
