Five Masked Robbers Punch Victim on Florence

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:
Masked Robbers Steal Phone on Florence
Five masked offenders demanded their victim's property, then punched him at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, in the 1000 block of Florence Avenue, according to police. They stole his cash and an Android blue cell phone in a white case, police said.
Arrests: Aggravated Battery, Possession of a Controlled Substance
Jared C. Lester-Childs, 27, of the 700 block of Grey Avenue in Evanston, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery at 7:07 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, outside his home, according to police.
Ray Charles Owens, 26, of the 400 block of Buffalo Avenue in Calumet City, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the 1400 block of Fowler, according to police.
Tully Ernest Smitherman, 47, was arrested and charged with theft under $500 at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, according to police.
Attempted Burglary On Howard
Someone damaged the rear door of an apartment in the 2100 block of Howard Street between 8:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, and 5:31 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, police reported.
Vandal Smashes Car Window on Crain
Someone smashed the rear window of a 2012 Honda parked in the 1500 block of Crain Street between 6:15 and 9:25 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, police reported.
Window Broken On Noyes
Someone broke the window of a home in the 2200 block of Noyes Street between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, police reported.
Food Stolen at Grocery Store
Someone stole food from a cart at a grocery store in the 2400 block of Main Street at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, according to police.
Graffiti Appears on Howard
Graffiti appeared in a parking lot in the 600 block of Howard Street between 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, and 7 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, police reported.
