Flood Advisory Issued for Chicago's Lakefront Communities

High winds and tall waves could mean flooded roads Wednesday and Thursday.

CHICAGO, IL - A Lakeshore flood advisory has been issued for Chicagoland throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday.

Waves on Lake Michigan could build to 10-14 feet across the shores in Northeast Illinois between 9 a.m. Wednesday and 9 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds could reach 50 mph and high waves could result in “some beach erosion and minor flooding along the Lakeshore...including roads,” according to the advisory, which was released at the same time as a Winter Storm warning, which is in effect for the entire area from 9 a.m. Wednesday at 4 a.m. Thursday.
