Free Meals For Youth Offered During Coronavirus School Closures

EVANSTON, IL — Local school districts have partnered with the city to distribute food to help feed young people affected by the closures of schools, city staff announced Monday afternoon.

Evanston city staff are working with Evanston/Skokie School District 65 and Evanston Township High School District 202 officials to offer free, cold breakfasts and lunches, according to a release.

Grab-and-go meals will be served to those aged 1 to 18 years old at locations throughout the city from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 and again next week.

The free meals are available to all young people. There is no residency requirements or means-testing. No meals will be eaten on site.

According to the release, all five weekdays worth of breakfasts and lunches may be picked up between 1 and 5 p.m. on Mondays at the following locations until further notice.

• Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St.
• Robert Crown Community Center, 1801 Main St.
• Kamen Park David Wood Fieldhouse, 1111 South Blvd.
• Mason Park, Church Street and Florence Avenue
