Lakeshore Historict District is 'Hot,' Real Estate Blog Says
Redfin ranked the Evanston neighborhood the fourth hottest in Chicagoland.

Winter may be far from over, but one Evanston neighborhood is feeling the heat, according to an online real estate site.
Evanston Now reports that Redfin recently named the city’s Lakeshore Historic District one of the five “hottest” neighborhoods in the Chicago metro area - coming in at No. 4. The neighborhood trailed only Andersonville, Garfield Park and Brighton Park on the list and came just ahead of No. 5 Isnala, a neighborhood in south suburban Palos Heights.
Among Redfin’s criteria for the list that included the land east of Chicago Avenue from South Boulevard north to Northwestern University included “how many visitors mark homes in the neighborhood as favorites and an assessment of how fast a home is likely to sell.”

“Business development along Chicago Avenue in the past few years has provided more storefronts, restaurants and services to the neighborhood. The lakefront is right there, which always appeals to buyers,” Redfin agent David Yocum said. “And, there’s nearby access to the L and Metra, so getting to the city is fairly easy. Prices are still reasonable relative to other parts of Evanston, making it natural that interest will increase.”
