Lincoln Street To Close At Sheridan Road For A Week
The road will close Wednesday and reopen next Friday, Evanston officials announced.

From The City of Evanston: As part of the final phase of the Chicago Avenue / Sheridan Road Corridor Project, Lincoln Street will be closed at Sheridan Road beginning Wednesday, July 11 through Thursday, July 19 in coordination with emergency services at the City of Evanston and Northwestern University. The road will reopen on Friday, July 20 for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Most of the excavation is now complete on the west side of the Sheridan / Lincoln intersection in preparation for concrete pavement construction. A detour will be set up for eastbound Lincoln Street traffic to use Orrington Avenue to Noyes Street going south or Orrington Avenue to Central Street going north.
Once construction on the west side of Sheridan Road is complete, traffic will be switched onto the new lanes to accommodate road reconstruction of the east side of Sheridan Road. The construction activities will create some inconveniences for the abutting residents, but workers will attempt to minimize these issues.
