Evanston Climbs Above 0

Temperature reached 2 but wind chill hovered well below zero.

Evanston experienced temperatures above zero for the first time in nearly 40 hours Tuesday afternoon, as the mercury climbed to 2 above zero around 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Though the wind chill was 15 below zero, the forecast called for an end to sub-zero temperatures in the seven-day predictions, with a high of 14 expected Wednesday.

Schools and other organizations are expected to be open Wednesday.
