NorthShore, Advocate Hospital Systems to Merge
The new Advocate NorthShore system would be one of the largest in the country.

NorthShore Univesity HealthSystem and Advocate Health Care are planning to merge into a 16-hospital system, making it one of the largest health care systems in the country, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.
The merger needs to be approved by the Illinois Health Facilities and Review Board, Crain’s reports, and must not violate antitrust laws as determined by the Federal Trade Commission.
Advocate Health Care is already the state’s largest system, with facilities in Chicago and throughout the suburbs. NorthShore, as the name implies, is focused on the northern suburbs, with hospitals in Evanston, Highland Park, Skokie and Glenview.
