Founded in 1956, Northshore Concert Band is internationally known and respected for its musical excellence, leadership in community music, and commitment to music education. The band’s musical leadership is provided by Dr. Mallory Thompson, Artistic Director, and Daniel Farris, Assistant Conductor.

When COVID-19 canceled the second half of their 2019-2020 Season they formulated a plan to return to safely making music in person. They were able to return to outdoor rehearsals in Fall 2020. Several virtual concerts were created through recordings made during these rehearsals at The Grove National Historic Landmark in Glenview, IL. When in-person rehearsals ceased in November 2020, Tyler Holstrom, NCB clarinetist, partnered with NCB tubist Kevin Baldwin, to create “NCB Replay” — a limited series of archival concert footage, presented free of charge on their social media pages. “I dusted off the video hard drive from Kevin,” said Holstrom, “and started sifting through the concert videos, made a list of every available piece of music, and started to piece together themed programs.”

All the 2020-2021 Northshore Concert Band virtual concerts can be viewed on their YouTube channel.

Celebrate! Live Music with Northshore Concert Band is on Sunday June 20, 2021, at 3:00 PM CST at Gillson Park in Wilmette, Illinois. This concert is free of charge; however, donations are greatly appreciated. Audience members are encouraged to bring your own seating and asked to follow the city of Wilmette’s health and safety guidelines for social distancing and mask wearing.
