Northwestern Alum’s Office to Represent Boston Marathon Bombing Suspect

Miriam Conrad, the federal defender for Massachusetts, said her office plans to represent Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving Boston Marathon Bombing suspect, after he is charged.

 

The office of a Northwestern University alumna plans to represent the surviving Boston Marathon bombings suspect after he is charged, the Daily Northwestern reported. 

Massachusetts federal public defender Miriam Conrad plans to defend 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who remains hospitalized after being wounded in a firefight with police Friday in the Boston suburb of Watertown, BostonHerald.com reported.

Conrad, who graduated from Northwestern University in 1979 and was a former Daily staffer says Tsarnaev needs an appointed attorney immediately due to concerns over police questioning, the Daily Northwestern reported. 

Police believe Tsarnaev and his older brother Tamerlan, 26, who died in a police shootout earlier Friday, are responsible for the two bomb explosions near the finish line of the Boston marathon that killed three people and injured 180 on April 15, the Telegraph reported.
