Now In Foreclosure, JB Pritzker's Former Evanston Mansion Listed
Facing a foreclosure lawsuit, the couple who spent $4.1 million on the Pritzkers' former home listed it Sunday for $2.7 million.
EVANSTON, IL — The former mansion of Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and First Lady MK Pritzker returned to the market Sunday in north Evanston with an asking price of $2.7 million amid ongoing foreclosure proceedings on the property.

The governor and his wife purchased the property for $1.025 million in 1993, selling it for $4.1 million in 2007 — the same year they bought the second of their two contiguous mansions on Astor Place in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood. That home's toilet-related property tax breaks reportedly remain under federal investigation.

A foreclosure suit against current owners Robin and Andrew Rosenthal was filed in August 2018 by the New York-based firm who picked up the $2.665 million mortgage on the house earlier last year. Those proceedings remain pending in Cook County Circuit Court, and no auction has been scheduled.
According to the Cook County Assessor's Office, the estimated 2018 market value of the property was adjusted downward to $1.43 million following an appeal, leaving it with an annual property tax bill of about $45,000 last year.
Before it returned to the market Sunday, the house was listed for sale in 2017, when its asking price was reduced from $3.1 million to $2.7 million. Listing agent Sally Mabadi did not respond to inquiries about the property.
