Obama to Deliver Speech at Northwestern Thursday

He'll also attend a fundraiser for Gov. Pat Quinn while in town.

President Barack Obama is coming to Northwestern University.

The Sun-Times reports that he’ll be on campus Thursday to deliver a speech. While in town, he’ll also attend a fundraiser for Gov. Pat Quinn in Chicago.

Obama will speak about the economy to an audience from both the university as a whole at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern said in a press release.

This is the first visit by a sitting president to Northwestern in 60 years, the school said. It’s not Obama’s first visit to campus: he was the 2006 commencement speaker.

The City released the following information about street closures for the 1 p.m. speech: “It is anticipated that Sheridan Road will be closed for several hours Thursday morning and temporary parking restrictions will be in place on streets near the University. ”

Monday, in preparation for the Evanston visit, two marine helicopters and two tiltrotor Osprey aircraft landed at the Northwestern landfill, Evanston Now reports. One of their readers captured the video below of the Osprey flying over Fountain Square.
